Last weekend my family and I went on a one day tip to our coast. For all those who don’t know, I live in beautiful Croatia. I live in the interior of the country, but the coast is only a couple of hours away.
We went to Senj because my daughter had a competition there (tae-kwon do), and my husband, other daughter and I went along. This was short but sweet getaway!
Senj is a small town with rich history. I can write and write about it, but I will only mention that its symbol Nehaj Fortress was completed in 16th century. This fortress is famous because it was the seat of the Uskoks (Christian refugees from Otoman resettled there to protect the Habsburg borderlands) and it still stands tall today. Sadly, we didn’t have the chance to visit it that day. Even though Senj not your typical touristic seaside destination, I was overwhelmed with it’s tranquillity and peacefulness.
